 |

Lama assembled with cockpit started, note OS BGX-1 35cc glow engine. |

So many little screws in the canopy glazing assembly and doors. |

The Lama rotor head beside a 60 class 4 blade and Hirobo 3 blade head. |

The Lama tail rotor left, beside the Hirobo 3 blade head and regular tail. |

The Lama framed up beside my Xcell gas in the driveway, quite a bit bigger. |

Sometimes we all have motivation in our modeling careers to undertake a big project. For me the Hirobo big
Lama was that project. Hirobo's detail work is quite remarkable, the canopy, frame, landing gear,
scale turbine engine and their rotor heads are unparalleled even today. They are without a doubt,
exact replicas of the real helicopter and work just as reliably. I didn't know it then, but this
model permanently set me on a path of very large scale models.
Building the big Lama is like all of the other scale models from Hirobo. Top notch quality all the way
from the assembly to major installations and cockpit detailing. Unlike my previous scale models,
much more care and attention was necessary to ensure that critical areas were regularly checked for
lose parts and possible problem avoidance. This was just too much $$ invested for a loose fastener
to cause a lockout and believe me there are hundreds of fasteners on this model.
