In mid 2003 Dr. Tim came onboard to become our official scale test pilot. The first project was to
add some of the Baumann accessories to the Cobra, specifically the scale cargo hook and Bambi bucket.
The Cobra was transformed into a "Fire Cobra" and flown in mid to late 2003. The next step was to
do a major retrofit and change mechanics and powerplant to turbine. This was a major undertaking and these
construction photos show some of the steps during the conversion.
The new Cobra was first displayed at Circumgyration 2004 and was a work of art in terms of scale
detailing and the rather incredible perfect fit of the turbine into this fuselage. After all, we had
been working with Jakadofsky to attain this level of integration. But it takes a scale expert like
Dr. Tim to transform the basic fuselage into a fantastic replica of the original Cobra helicopter. Those
that have seen this model helicopter have no doubt about Dr. Tim's master craftsmanship akin to Len Mount,
Peter Wales and few others at this level. This was the very same model to take 2nd place at the 2004
Nationals and 1st place at the IRCHA event.
