Radical modifications for the low tail drive on the Cobra. |

Creative use of two old TSK tail gearboxes was just the ticket. |
The Cobra was my first Len Mount fuselage that I worked on and was also one of the most challenging
fuselages to build because at the time, this was enormous compared to the much more common 60 class fuselages commonly seen
at the flying field. Each fuselage has a history and this one started with gasoline mechanics and was test flown at our local
Bayside RC Club.
The cobra was a lot of fun to work on but presented some unique challenges to power the model and
to transport it to the flying field. I was comfortable that the Xcell mechanics would provide good
control but I was not sure that the Zenoah G23H was going to provide enough power for any more than
hovering the model. As with most other scale mechanics that start as pod and boom style helicopters,
the tail drive modification was quite complex to get the tail drive shaft take off at the bottom of
the mechanics. This actually worked just fine.
