Fuel Doors

The fuel door set is straight forward and comprises of a left and right side fuel door and are marked for convenience.

Assembly Instructions

The fuel doors are intended to be mounted flush to the inside surface of the fuselage. The simplest method to do this is to trace the inside opening. This can be done by laying tracing paper over each fuel door and drawing a pencil line of the opening or a low tech approach can be used. Use a sponge and apply a little white latex paint to the flat outside rim and press each door down on a dark colored piece of paper for an exact pattern print of the opening. Transfer the opening to the fuselage and remember to make a second line 2-3 millimeters inside the first. Always cut the hole smaller then open up the fiberglass to the final size. As this is a flush mounted internal item, we recommend sanding the mating surfaces to achieve a good final fit.

As the The fuel doors are internal to the fuselage, do not bond them in place until after the main fuselage has been painted. Otherwise, they will collect paint in the corners that can be difficult to remove, if not done quickly before the paint dries.

Bond the fuel doors in place with medium to slow cyanoacrylate glue. Epoxy can only be used, if the fuselage is molded using Epoxy resin. Using a little filler, seal any slight gaps between the fuel doors and the fuselage surface, if there are any. Once dry, any addition detail painting can be completed.
