PRO-X Turbine Engine
On receiving your turbine you will see everything pictured here along with
a detailed operating and setup manual that covers fuel tank systems, recommended exhaust designs,
mounting the engine, mounting the onboard components and very detailed instructions for calibrating
the AECU unit with the supplied data console.
PRO-X Turboshaft Turbine Engine w/Machined Wheel $12,280.00
Every Jakadofsky engine that is shipped to customers has passed stringent factory testing.
Each engine is tested at all operating speeds, during startup and shutdown using common operator errors and
at maximum power. The onboard AECU controls all aspects of the engine's operation from startup, spool up,
speed regulation, spool down and shut down, including emergency engine shutdown from the transmitter. The
default AECU setup is factory programmed for the highest efficiency to fuel consumption ratio and requires
the final steps to calibrate the engine startup to your transmitter.
Included with each engine are components in 2 major groups. The electronic components
include the AECU, data console, brushless controller, battery pack, temperature sensor, rpm sensor and
indicator status LED. The liquid fuel equipment includes two electric shut off valves, one for starting
fuel and one for operational fuel, electric fuel pump, Y fuel fitting and 4mm Red PU fuel line.
AECU Connections Left Side:
- Kerosene electric fuel pump.
- Kerosene electric Fuel valve.
- Kerosene electric Start valve.
- Engine status LED.
- Connector for data console.
- RC3 - Brushless ESC signal wire.
- RC2 - not used.
- RC1 - Throttle 3P switch on receiver.
-
AECU Connections Right Side:
- 12V Battery & Brushless Controller.
- Ignition system power.
- Engine RPM & EGT sensors.
Data Console Functions:
EGT temperature, turbine RPM at idle and maximum speed, throttle setting, total turbine
run time, RPM and temperature statistics, number of engine starts, battery voltage and fuel pump voltages.
The data console is the interface to the operating parameters for the engine. It is recommended to
assemble an extension for the EDT to be able to make programming setting changes with the EDT safely
outside of the rotor span of the model. The AECU included with the PRO-X is different from the RS and PRO
turbines and the instruction manual should be studied carefully to understand the new procedures.
The new AECU uses a single 3 position, switched channel on the transmitter for the
turbine RPM control, combining the turbine safety switch at the same time. Experience with the PRO
series engines revealed that a proportional RPM channel was not necessary for helicopters. Day to day
RPM adjustments can be easily made through the transmitter or the data console but not while flying. Each new
engine requires two configuration procedures, one to match the transmitter's turbine switch positions
to the AECU and one to perform testing of the starter and fuel pump systems. All settings are well
detailed in the operating manual. At the end of each flight, the AECU will retain information for
maximum fuel voltage needed for full throttle, average operating temperature, maximum temperature,
stop rotor time and the total engine time. The AECU retains this information until the starter battery
is disconnected. It is recommended to log this information as it will be a clear indicator of a problem
with the fuel system, over time.
Due to the very high current draw from the onboard starter, a conventional on/off switch
is not used. High quality power connectors are to be purchased separately and installed between the 12V
battery and the AECU rated at 40 amps continuous load.
