TurboProp Mechanics

Modelers interested in extreme aerobatics will be amazed in the high reliability and performance of the PRO-SW turbine with turboprop mechanics. Designed for large aerobatic aircraft, turbine power will not only change how you fly, but allow you to spend more time flying. The turboshaft engine is perfectly suited for turboprop aircraft and our mechanics use a variable pitch propellor system for complete positive and negative thrust control.

PRO-TP   Turboshaft PRO-SW w/Turboprop Mechanics  $6,639.00

:: overview

PJW-PRO-SW4.8kW [6.5HP] at 93,000 RPM, with machined turbine wheel

The Turboprop mechanics includes the PRO-SW turbine (black housing) engine as standard. The mechanics have been designed to mount directly to your plywood firewall to support the propellor system and the turbine in a compact installation.

The Jakadofsky turbine is an AMA approved engine for use within the United States. This is a complete system that comes with the components for complete remote starting, operation and shutdown from the radio transmitter. The onboard electronic control system automates the complete control of these processes on the engine. Two different types of fuel are used during operation, a gaseous butane/propane mix for starting and liquid Kerosene as the primary operational fuel. The engine is first started with the propane/butane that burns until the engine is at a sufficient temperature and RPM to run on the liquid Kerosene. After transitioning to the Kerosene, the butane fuel value is automatically turned off.

Components as shown:

  • Gas turbine engine unit.
  • Onboard AECU unit.
  • Electronic data unit.
  • Propane shut off valve.
  • Kerosene fuel pump.
  • Kerosene shut off valve.
  • Butane/propane tank w/valve.
  • Glow plug connector.
  • External engine status LED.
  • AECU connectors x 2.
  • Master on/off switch.
  • 6 cell 1250mah battery.

The variable propellor system includes high performance, carbon fiber propellors as standard and replace the original wooden propellors shown in the photos. The AECU comes pre-programmed and tuned specifically for an airplane which differs from the helicopter program.

The propellor diameter is 24" [61cm] and is connected to the propellor shaft through an Aluminum hub that contains the pitch actuators for the propellors. The variable pitch system is controlled by a heavy duty servo mounted at the front of the mechanics and provides a pitch range of -4 to 13 degrees. This system combined with the turbine's constant speed drive system gives the pilot complete control over the airspeed of the model throughout its flight maneuvers. Pitch change is immediate and only limited by the speed of the servo driving it. A white spinner is provided and covers the hub completely and can be painted to match your paint scheme. The turboprop mechanics feature outstanding workmanship and are constructed from high strength Aluminum and Steel components. Mounting brackets are included and allow quick and easy installation into your favourite aircraft.
