Rotorway Exec LM1017
This is a refreshing change for Len Mount, who is famous for his highly detailed military fuselages. This
sport scale fuselage suited to the 60-90 class glow and gasoline helicopter mechanics and is simpler to complete. Modelers with an aspiration
for home built helicopters will certainly enjoy this scale fuselage. |

Rotorway is a true American success story for a small business that had a simple vision of a small
helicopter for 1-2 people that could be built from a kit and flown for sport, recreational and business use. Rotorway's first test flight of their
prototype of the single seat Scorpion was in 1961, which then was put into production in 1967. In 1972 the Scorpion II was offered with a larger
engine and was refitted for two people in the cockpit. This opened the door for customer flight training and proved to be a major milestone for
their dedication to customer service for their products. The 80's and early 90's proved to be their biggest challenge with sales dropping off and
and two unsuccessful models, the Elete and Windstar which ultimately led to a former customer purchasing the company.
New direction and evaluation
of their current hurdles in the Elete led to a major redesign for the Exec helicopter that featured a fantastic new fuselage, 2 seats and a custom
engine produced by Rotorway. In 1996 the company was repurchased by its employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan which has contributed
significantly to the improvements that been made to the Exec series. Since 1990 Rotorway has been recognized through receiving top awards from the
EAA (Experimental Aviation Association) and more recently from HAI (Helicopter Association International) particularly for their FADEC system.
The Rotorway Exec is simple to work on, as the openings and windows are large enough to fit your hands easily inside and there is enough space to add
a completely detailed cockpit. Detailing is straight forward and this sport scale model allows immense creativity in designing an eye catching paint scheme.
New modelers will be happy that between opening your new Rotorway Exec fuselage box and finishing the model can be completed in under 1 month, but
it really depends on how much time you can commit to building and finishing. |
