AH-1S Cobra LM1010
The Cobra is one of Len Mount's first super scale fuselages that has been well
documented in the model magazines. The Cobra is available for gasoline or turbine mechanics and is highly detailed.
The side wings, ammunition mounts and rocket tubes are provided but the creative modeler can really add
the full assortment of armaments. Whether you prefer the gasoline or the turbine power plant, you have an
excellent model to add allot of detail, limited only by your imagination and time. |

The Cobra was introduced during the Vietnam conflict as a result of the Army needing an advanced
and dedicated gunship for anti-tank warfare. The AH-1S variant was the most technologically advanced gunship until the 1970s when the twin
engine Cobras were commissioned.
The Cobra like the Huey is a favorite among modelers as it is simply easier to fly with the two blade rotor system that is
completely scale. The size of the Cobra fuselage and the fact that it is designed for gasoline or turbine power makes this an
ideal fuselage to add all the scale detailing like the cockpit, battery compartment and weaponry. It should be noted that the
front turret gun, tow launch tubes and tow missiles need to be scratch built by the modeler and are not included. While each
modeler decides how much detail is added, our gallery section displays a fine example of a Cobra that has been built using gasoline
mechanics. New modelers should be aware that between opening your new AH-1S Cobra fuselage box and finishing the model
can take between 3 to 12 months, depending on how much time you can commit to building and finishing. |
