Retractable Landing Light

This retractable landing light is detailed similar to the Grimes landing light used on full scale helicopters. It comes
partially assembled, along with the servo included, leaving only the final assembly and the pushrod attachment.
The actual lamp bezel of the light hangs below the edge of the mount so the unit can be easily installed
directly against the inside surface of the fiberglass and still look perfectly scale.

The lamp operates on 4.8V and can be easily integrated with an existing wiring harness for lighting
or connected independently. To make the lamp switch on and off automatically, go visit your favorite
electronics store to get one of those black, thin style micro switches. Get the version that has a flexible arm or
roller arm and install inside the unit so that as the servo arm moves past the half extended position,
the switch is toggled, turning on the light. The key is bending the arm so that the switch comes on but allows the
servo arm to travel to its endpoint to allow the light to be fully extended position, but not put additional load
on the micro switch.
