AH-1F eCobra
AP102

You couldn't ask for a more complete fuselage. Approach Engineering has thought everything through about mounting the mechanics into their fuselage. While bending the tail belt has been done before, we are not aware of using this solution inside a scale fuselage, a least not in this class yet. Nearly any modeler can fully detail this fuselage and have an awesome fuselage for their electric model.

The following items are broken down to give you a clearer view of the items that are required to complete the model. Due to the narrow fuselage width, some electric models will work and some will not. The best check is to measure your helicopter mechanics at its widest point, normally it is at the main gear or the lower mechanics. The working height for your mechanics is 6.25" but the distance from the bottom of the fuselage to the top circular hole is 8.0" which provides plenty of space for electric mechanics. The internal maximum width for this fuselage is 4.3" [10.9cm].

If your mechanics are slightly wider 3/16"~5/16" [5-8mm] then it is still possible to fit, but you will need to be creative in adding a detail to the outside to "hide" the extra width or relocate the problematic parts on the mechanics, but this is not alway possible. Being that this is built up fuselage, making this type of change is simple and easy as you can see the interference problems. In a fiberglass fuselage, it is usually a fight right from the beginning just to remove enough parts just to get the mechanics to sit in the basic fuselage.

Under "Other Equipment" we list the radio set, type of servos, recommended gyro and other accessories that we do not carry. These are for referrence and can be purchased through your favorite hobby shop.

Other Equipment

  • 8-10 Channel FM/PCM Transmitter and receiver.
  • Century Swift or Mikado Logo 10 model helicopter.
  • Suitable brushless motor and controller, verify compatibility before you buy.
  • Piezo gyro, heading lock & rate mode.
  • High speed rudder servo to match the requirements of the gyro.
  • Rudder pushrod to connect the rudder servo to the included tail bellcrank.
