David Langford's Vario Lama & Starwood Rotor Head System
Hi Al,
Just a small letter to tell you how fantastic your rotor head is, it started on a Friday
morning when I received a phone call from the carrier to say that the rotor head had
arrived and would I like to come and collect it. On getting to the carrier I was so
excited that I opened it there and then, I could not believe how fantastic and real
it looked, I think I stayed up all night just looking at it and drinking tea, I know
this may sound a bit mad but its not very often in this hobby that something comes
along so good.
Day one Saturday morning.
As you already know I have a large Vario turbine helicopter and work started on the assembly
of the rotor head to the helicopter everything fitted perfectly, I mean your rotor head, your
swashplate and your swashplate driver all your linkages and ball links all fitted perfectly,
the Vario 2.5 metre rotor blades fitted perfectly and there was no problem with the length of
the blades with the tail rotors there was plenty of room, when I had finished all this work and
set up the rotor head it looked unbelievably real.
Day four Tuesday morning.
When I arrived at my flying field, it was a beautiful calm morning I prepared the helicopter for
flight I carried the helicopter with my friend out to the flight line I stood back and looked at
it with amazement, it looked so real with the blades drooping down, I started the turbine which
started first time I took some deep breaths to settle my nerves, I hit the switch on the transmitter
and spooled the turbine up to flying rpm, before lifting off the rotor blades were dead parallel,
I increased the pitch slowly and the helicopter lifted off dead centre stick.
I corrected left trim
slightly and the helicopter stood there rock solid in the hover with the extra disc diameter created
by your rotor head and my helicopter being heavy it lifted it with no problem whatsoever, I started
to move it around with left and right pirouettes I flew it away, turned it around with a gentle
approach Al this is one beautiful rotor head to fly, it immediately has a feel as a fly bar rotor
head, I flew on three separate flights lasting for 15 minutes each, at the end of the flying session
my immediate evaluation of this rotor head is that it is so easy to fly, I am going to place another
order with you for a second rotor head, I have always been a great admirer of the Hirobo big lama
scale rotor head but your rotor head out strips this by a mile in flying characteristics.
Thank you again Al for a fantastic scale rotor head not only looks highly scaled but flies and handles
so easily, everybody that has seen it have said how fantastic it looks. I have found the support from
you second to none in purchasing this rotor head again thank you for this, please feel free to use
this information any way you want to, including the photographs I sent you. Thank you for supporting me.
Regards,
David Langford.
